Early start to get out of town and into the beautiful west coast, first stop was Mundungsan National park which has Seonunsa which is a 13m stone carving of Buddha made some 700 years ago in the mountains, set in the same park is the Dosoram Temple which are a collection of beautiful wooden Buddhist Temples. From there we crossed inland to Songgwangsa which is another fine collection of Buddhist temples, this time set amongst water and further up into the hills. After that we visited the Nagan Folk Village before making base at Yeousu. |

A day off the bikes checking out the famous Hanok Village in the historic part of Jeonju. They are restoring a lot of the properties to how it looked 600 years ago, but most of them are still intact and it is a great insight into how the people lived many years ago. |

Boryeong to Jeonju |

Today started superbly with the sun on our backs riding through mountain country, passing national parks, farm land, people getting on with their business and wondering who these aliens were passing by on motorbikes, it was great to be in a part of the world where we didn't see one tourist! Daedunsan & Maisan National Parks were great but as the weather was getting worse as the day went on we decided to push onto the historic city of Jeonju. |

Daechon Beach |

Claimed to be the nicest beach on the west coast and only 10km from Boryeong we decided to go and check it out, but with the cold spring weather we decided against taking the plunge..... |

Seoul to Boryeong |

Our first proper ride in Asia, as we cannot use the motorways over here it took us over an hour to get out of Seoul, but we did it without too many problems and made it down to Boryeong in 4 hours. Our friend Helen who we met in Nicaragua has been working here for 6 months, so she introduced us to her local friends and did a great job of showing us the local sights. |

Seoul - DMZ Tour, North Korea, country #30 |
0m |
89442m |
| |
We have been looking forward to this tour for some time, we have never been to an active war zone before in our lives and this did not disappoint. We did not expect to actually cross the border and into North Korean territory albeit in the DMZ zone, we looked straight at the communist soldiers, could see the difference in architecture, took all the pictures we wanted. Also on the tour we visited some of the underground tunnels which have been found over the years from North Korean infiltrators, an amazing insight in the history of Korea since 1950 but also of a communist regime still in power. |

Seoul - Getting the bikes out of the airport |

When we first arrived it all seemed quite straight forward, but then the customs department would not accept and form of temporary import, then they would not accept our carnet, so after lots of negotiating & smiling we agreed to open a Korean bank account, deposit sufficient tax payment which we will get when we exit the country. We finally got back to our hotel at 11pm shattered. |

Visited the Chang Deok Gung Palace, this was built in 1403 and has been rebuilt throughout the years since then. Not only is the architecture impressive in its Asian style but the summer gardens were gorgeous.
Now we are in Asia we are going to see some of the oldest historic buildings & Empires of the trip so far, even before the Inca times of South America. |

Getting everything organised, packed, planned ready for Asia, Korea next stop...... We decided to service our bikes early as Korea & Japan is still a little bit of an unknown commodity, next service should be before we start the Trans-Siberian Highway across Russia.
A massive thank you to Dale & Tim Walker for letting us stay with them in Darwin. We had been in touch with them for about 5 months but had never met, so when they opened their house up to us we were hugely appreciated, thank you. Thank you also for the amazing last evening we had racing the Polaris Razor around some local scrub, Rik & I were smiling all the way to Korea. |

Thankfully last night was our last night camping in Australia, we both struggled with the heat albeit a lot less humid than in Kakadu NP. We rode up to Darwin and called in to see our friends Tim & Dale who we have been in email contact with since last year, they very kindly offered us a place to stay whilst in Darwin which is incredibly generous of them and one that we appreciate more than ever, a proper night sleep!! |

April 13th |
Kakadu NP to Litchfield National Park - Florence Falls |

After one of the hottest, most humid and mosquito infested nights of the trip so far we made an early start west to Litchfield National Park just south of Darwin. The park is not fully open yet but we still enjoyed out time in Florence Falls and the less humid heat! |

April 12th |
Edith Falls to Cooinda - Kakadu National Park |
151m |
89040m |
| |
We could feel it get more humid the further north we got and when we checked into our campsite we got lynched by Mosquito's even at midday, so we headed to the pool for a few hours. Then at 4.30pm we took the sunset boat cruise on the Yellow Waters spotting all sorts of birds, animals and most importantly Salt Water Crocs, they really are big! |

April 11th |
Katherine Gorge to Edith Falls |

Took a breakfast boat trip up the gorge which was superb, wish we could wake up this way every day!! Then rode to the beautiful and less visited Edith Falls, here you can climb a series of water falls and swim in large pools at each plateau, of course watching out for Crocs along the way as they are here!!! |

Started with a flight south over Lake Argyle, the largest man made lake in the southern hemisphere, then passing over the beehive shaped Bungle Bungles, we landed here and started our 4 hour 4x4 trip & trek through these amazing & unique rick formations. Then we caught the flight back north to Kununurra passing over the largest diamond mind in the world, the Argyle Diamond mine, superb day and well worth the money. |

It was tough going, both of us suffering from the previous nights partying, but we had to hit the road to keep up with our schedule. Made it to Fitzroy Crossing in three hours and did the Geikie Gorge boat trip in the afternoon which was beautiful, saw some fresh water Crocodiles, from now on we should be seeing many more. |

One of the bigger days recently, but we both wanted to as there is not much between Karijini & Broome, so it was up the coast and into town for around 4pm. Booked into a great hostel, we met up with a great bunch of guys from different places around the world and it was party time immediately. |

Karijini National Park is famous for its gorges and it certainly didn't disappoint, the more we explored the more incredible the pools, streams, caves & gorges became, the bonus was that there was hardly anyone around so we almost had it for ourselves. |
